BROADGREEN 06.04.16
01-March-16 to 31-March-16 reporting period. | ||
---|---|---|
year 2016 | year 2015 | |
Criminal Damage | 2 | 7 |
Assaults | 14 | 19 (4 incidence of domestic violence) |
Theft & Handling | 10 | 13 (8/10 incidents relate to thefts from commercial premises) |
Drug offences | 1 | 5 |
Dwelling Burglary | 2 | 5 |
Robbery | 1 | 0 |
Year to date for march 2016 incidents of crime have decreased compared to march 2015 figures with exception of Robberies which has increased by 1 incident. Pleasingly incidents of Dwelling burglary have decreased, however this could be in part because the March 2015 figures were inflated by a series of house & garage breaks. Assaults have decreased slightly although this could be because domestic related incidents which have taken place in dwellings have also reduced.
ABS
Anti-social behaviour reports have stayed at a comparable level to March 2015 but have increased slightly from figures in February 2016 due to an improvement in the weather.
Issues relation to boy racers in the County Ground Car Park appear to have vastly reduced although my colleagues are receiving complaints from elsewhere in the town so it could be our heavy policing of them in the Broadgreen area has displaced them elsewhere.
complaints of littering, drug usage and general ABS occurring on the canal path at the rear of Shrivenham Road are still ongoing. Numerous patrols have been conducted by both uniformed and plain clothes officers and ongoing patrols will be taking place. Swindon Borough Council has also installed an ABS camera to assist in identifying any persons responsible.
I am aware of ongoing issues on the Manchester Road area with local street drinker, particularly around the Williams Hill Bookmakers. We are looking to implement a civil injunction against one of the males who specifically has caused some individuals amongst you problems. I would please ask that you refrain from challenging Street Drinkers as to their inappropriate behaviour for two reasons, most importantly, you could put yourselves at risk of harm and secondly you could have a negative impact on the evidence we are looking to build. If you note any incidents taking place then I urge you to please contact us on 101 or 999 in an emergency.
Sexual Exposure series
As some of you may be aware we have suffered a series of sexual exposures in the Broadgreen area where an unknown male has been exposing his penis to lone females walking in the area in the early mornings. These incidents have taken place over the last 5-6 months.
Myself and colleagues have conducted numerous patrols starting at 6am in order to locate someone. Last Thursday at around 7am a male was located in the area matching the description of the suspect by myself and PCSO Swindle. He ran off and was subsequently detained and arrested a short distance away. He has been interviewed and is currently on Police Bail with conditions not to be in the area whilst further enquires take place.
He is described as a white male, 26 years old, 5' 8", tall and of slim build with short dark hair and trimmed dark beard. Generally he has always been wearing hooded tops and frequents the alleyways. If anyone is seen matching this description acting in a suspicious manner in the area between 6-7am then please contact Police on 101.
Police is an intelligence driven business and we would urge you to contact Wiltshire Police on 101 if you have something you need to tell us. Or alternatively email Community Beat Manager PC2410 Luke ATKINSON on luke.atkinson@wilthire.pnn.police.uk

Other business.
Member Bob Wedge raised concerns about two licensing applications in Manchester Rd and recommended other members submit objections.
Chair Pam Freegard advertised a car boot sale to be held on 8th May at the community Centre, where she would be raising funds for the garden project with a stall. There had been incidents of children trampling the grounds-level herb bed at the garden and suggestions were sought to remedy this.
There was still a problem with rubbish in the back in the back between Shrivenham Rd and the County Ground extension but there had been good progress on the path into the County Ground.
Member Rob Williams shared some thoughts for a new Community Council website and access to online information generally.
