Minutes from the Community Council meeting held on 3rd July 2019

Members present; chair Pam Freegard, Treasurer Bob Walter, IT Secretary Robert Williams, Brenda Arnold, John Freegard, Paul Izquierdo, Kate Johnson, Brenda Warwick, Bob Wedge.



Also present; Cllr Adorabelle Shaikh, Cllr Bob Wright (SBC),
                        Cllr John Firmin (SSPC)







Apologies for Absence; Diana Banner, John Clark, Sheila Ireson, Cluniford Mason, Evelyn Mason, Rebecca McIntosh, John Pryce, Romaine Smolinski.

There being less than ten members present decisions, including confirmation of the June minutes and the treasurer's statement, were deferring to the next meeting.

Parish council issues.
The second Broadgreen Street Food Festival had been a great success building on last year's event.
There would be a local voluntary litter-pick on Sunday 28th July.


Borough Council issues.
It was suggested that general detritus was not being swept up particularly in the back alleys.
Cllr Wright said this was partly due to short staffing.
There was a discussion on CCTV legislation.  There still seems to be uncertainty amongst Borough staff.
Borough staff also seemed to be unclear whose job it was to consult with residents on the alley gating scheme.
Cllr Wright was seeking progress on taking empty residential properties into Borough care.  Ian James (StreetSmart) had ruled out proposals to clear rubbish from such properties.
Cllr Wright reported that the walk-in centre at Islington St Health Centre was being relocated to GWH.
An application had been made to change bus routed at Fleming Way - Fleet St junction.
It was noted that the hedge near Fleming Way - Medgbury Place juction had been trimmed but that soil residue had not been properly swept up.
Concen was raised over repeated missed recycling collections.
