NOTES FROM THE COMMUNITY COUNCIL DROP-IN HELD ON 05 DECEMBER 2012

The following issues and points were reported

There was a general discussion about the fly tipping issues, particularly in the alleyways, and the apparent lack of concern or action about the disgusting state of the whole area.

Frances Barrone – Asked if we might be interested in linking in with Caroline Davies Khan who is part of the Savernake Hall steering group to look at potential community hall management.

Councillor J Wright – invite to meeting re. euro bins for Broadgreen.

Highway improvements at Transfer Bridges – There will be a consultation held at the Gorse Hill Community Centre, Chapel Street – 06 December 2012, 3pm to 8 pm.

Parking Permit Changes - visitors will only need to be given one all-day visitor scratch card to park overnight. The new system will extend the validity of the visitor scratch cards to 10am the next morning. From 3 December, the council’s Enforcement Officers will consider the current all day visitor scratch cards to be valid on the following day up until 10am. Once existing stocks are used up, a new design of permit will be issued to residents.

HISTORY REPORT:

At the December drop-in an array of images from around the centre of Swindon were displayed. This started a number of discussions and brought back memories about amongst other things – the Regent Chip Shop in Princes Street, the New Inn in Cromwell Street, Wallis Fishmongers, Berry’s fruit shop and Norman’s furniture shop.
